Citizens Advice is a UK-based network of independent charities that provide free, confidential, and impartial advice to assist people with a wide range of issues. When it comes to employee-related concerns, Citizens Advice can offer guidance on various matters, including:

  • Employment rights: Citizens Advice can provide information about your rights as an employee, such as minimum wage, working hours, holiday entitlement, and protections against unfair dismissal.
  • Discrimination: If you believe you have been discriminated against at work because of your age, race, gender, disability, sexual orientation, religion, or other protected characteristics, Citizens Advice can advise you on your options and rights under the law.
  • Harassment and bullying: If you’re experiencing harassment or bullying in the workplace, Citizens Advice can offer support and advise you on how to address the situation, including potential legal remedies.
  • Redundancy: If you’re facing redundancy, Citizens Advice can provide information on your rights, entitlements to redundancy pay, and help you understand the redundancy process.
  • Employment contracts: If you have questions about your employment contract, such as terms and conditions, probationary periods, or notice periods, Citizens Advice can provide guidance.
  • Unpaid wages: If you haven’t received wages you’re owed or if your employer is withholding payment unlawfully, Citizens Advice can advise you on how to pursue your unpaid wages.
  • Health and safety concerns: If you have concerns about health and safety conditions in your workplace, Citizens Advice can provide information on your rights and how to address any hazards or risks.
  • Grievances and disputes: If you’re experiencing a dispute or grievance with your employer, Citizens Advice can offer guidance on how to resolve the issue, including mediation and legal options.
  • Maternity, paternity, and parental rights: Citizens Advice can provide information on your rights to maternity, paternity, and parental leave, as well as entitlements to pay during these periods.
  • Workplace pensions: If you have questions about workplace pensions, such as auto-enrolment, contributions, or accessing your pension pot, Citizens Advice can offer assistance.
